The 5th edition of the international design, architecture and culture biennale ExperimentaDesign (EXD’09), will kick off in Lisbon on September 9 with a weeklong calendar of events on a very apt and demanding theme: Time.
The Opening week of EXD’09 will provide participants with the rare opportunity to ponder over time with international experts and leading practitioners of design, architecture and other relevant disciplines at the Lisbon Conferences, which will take place daily from 15:00 – 17:00, and engage with academics, journalists and a mix of creative practitioners in the Open Talks each day from 11:00 – 13:00.

Urban Design at EXD’09
To celebrate its tenth birthday the EXD’09 has added seven Special Projects to it programme, one of these projects is called Jardim de Santos. A small garden in the middle of a bustling city district. The project, developed by EXD in collaboration with the Lisbon Municipality, is a design driven urban intervention created with the aim of leaving a lasting legacy to the city and its inhabitants and requalifying the site in a perspective of integration with its close environment and the overall cityscape. Conceived by a team of Portuguese creatives, the intervention features user-centered, integrated strategies and solution in Landscape Architecture, Urban Equipment Design, Light Design, Sound Design, Communication Design and Signage.
Reconfigured and attuned to today’s changing lifestyles, Jardim de Santos will become a valuable public space and an added value for the Lisbon’s social, economic and cultural dynamics.
